Unit Manager

Our Unit Manager is responsible for all administrative and operational functions of the facility's assigned units for all three (3) shifts for floors. The position provides oversight of security and sanitation and serves as the liaison between facility management, food service and medical services.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of experience working in a correctional, detention work experience
  • A Bachelors degree in social work, psychology, or related field may be substituted for up to three (3) years of experience based on management discretion

Experience:

  • Five (5) years of experience working in a correctional, detention work experience

Licenses/Certifications:

  • None required


Responsibilities

  1. Coordinates and oversees all patient moves.
  2. Serves as a core member of the Treatment Team and assures that all security devices and equipment are accounted for and in working order.
  3. Make sure all level sheets are updated daily and provide updates to nursing and security staff.
  4. Make sure staff debriefing is completed after each incident on the medical and staff units.
  5. Assures patient disciplinary processes are timely and complete.
  6. Responsible for patient personal property.
  7. Prepares reports and maintains and reviews all logs and patient watch sheets.
  8. Responds to patient incidents and guides safe and successful resolution.
  9. Supervises classification and maintenance functions within the unit.
  10. Prepares reports on program operations and maintains all logs and other reports called for in institutional operational procedures.
  11. Participates in developing and maintaining policies and procedures regarding the operational and security aspects of the living areas.
  12. Makes all patient housing assignments and approves changes and transfers between the units or housing units.
  13. Evaluates job performance and provides limited direct supervision for first line security staff assigned to the unit and also responsible for performance evaluations for security staff.
  14. Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
  15. Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
  16. Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.
  17. Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
